Hello,
My name is Carissa D, and I am mummy to one gorgeous girl Tahlia. We have a faith and felt obsession, and we'd like to share our creations with you!
When I was in preschool, I made a booklet to take home to my parents at the end of the year. One section was a page of questions we were asked and the teachers filled in our answers. My response to "I'm happiest when..." was "when I'm making things." And its still true today!
What better way to share my faith with my daughter than to make a Bible quiet book?
If its not obvious from my blog title, I am a little obsessive; so if I'm going to make an interactive felt Bible, I'm going to do it properly. Why stop with just the common stories? Every children's Bible has the story of Noah's Ark, David and Goliath, and Queen Esther... Much can be learned from the not-so-common ones, and I'm sure I can find a way to make them interesting and appropriate. If you have an idea, please post a comment!
There are 1189 chapters in the Bible, and I hope to make one quiet book page per chapter. This project will probably last the next twenty or so years of my life, but it will be time well spent.
Benefits for you:
Ideas and free templates to inspire your own quiet book creations!
Devotionals in a way you may have never experienced before.
A couple of my friends have said they find listening to me tell the stories of my quiet books very relaxing, so perhaps reading my blog will be that for you too...
Benefits for Tahlia:
Learning Bible stories in a fun way.
Practicing her fine motor and analytical skills.
Bible verse memorization.
Learning her way around the Bible.
I hope Tahlia will love playing with her quiet book for many years to come, but as she grows older, I plan on teaching her how to sew and create her own pages, as well as adding her own posts to our blog.
Benefits for me:
Many of the above.
I find designing and sewing the quiet book pages a great method of stress management.
Bible study - I am learning an amazing amount whilst doing research for each page.
I hope this blog will be a great way for me to share my thoughts on spiritual things with an audience that is interactive! Feel free to post some comments.
God Bless and Happy Quietbooking!
Nothing is more practical than
finding God, that is, than
Falling in Love
in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination,
will affect everything.
It will decide
what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read, whom you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love,
and it will decide everything.
